The background for Link will be played as a mixture of manga and game canon, with obvious fanwork in.
One will only emerge if the other's physical body is exhausted. During times of mental stress it may happen, but will be unlikely. Light Link is capable of all of Dark Link's emotions and vice versa; the former can simply control himself and keep himself happy.
